8/27/2008 - Motorcycle case
Gorham and Associates represented a client who was injured while riding on a motorcycle in Selma, Alabama. The case had been turned down by another law firm because the police officer wrote the accident report up as if the wreck was our client's fault, because our client struck the rear end of a pick up truck. The truck driver had told the police officer that he was rear ended by the motorcycle. Our client was unable to talk to the police officer as he sustained a serious brain injury and was life flighted from the scene. Once we were contacted we conducted a thorough investigation, which included obtaining the 911 emergency call tape and spending countless hours canvassing the businesses in the vacinity of the wreck site. We were able to locate three seperate eyewitnesses as well as the callers to 911, all of whom testified that the truck pulled out of a parking lot directly in front of the motorcycle thus causing the collision. Confronted with this overwhelming evidence, the truck driver, a California resident, admitted he lied to the police. The case was resolved for a confidential seven figure settlement that included a structured component that guaranteed our client monthly payments for life.
